Things have gotten from bad to worse for Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner. Just days after Marner witnessed the Tampa Bay Lightning steal a win in Game 7 against his team, the skater got involved in a terrifying incident when he got carjacked at gunpoint in Toronto, according to Joe Warmington of the Toronto Sun.

The all-star playmaker, who wears No. 16 with the blue and white, was the victim of a carjacking at gunpoint on Monday night.

“It happened at the Cineplex theatre on The Queensway,” said a police source.

Moreover, in a separate report by TMZ, the suspects in the carjacking were said to be carrying grenades and a sharp weapon during the incident.

The Toronto Police Service tells TMZ Sports the incident went down at around 7:46 PM … when three suspects — two with handguns and one with a knife — approached a black Range Rover.

The TPS does not name victims of crimes … but Marner, according to multiple reports, was driving the Range Rover at the time.

Nobody is absolutely safe out there, huh? Not even in the city which Marner suits up for in the NHL. Nevertheless, Marner is still fortunate to survive the ordeal unharmed.

Via the Maple Leafs' media relations department:

We can confirm Mitch Marner was the unfortunate victim of a carjacking in Etobicoke on Monday evening. He was unharmed in the incident and the Club & Mitch are thankful for Toronto Police Services’ support. Anyone with information is asked to reach out to Toronto Police Services.

While Marner definitely has more than enough money in the bank to get himself a new car, that experience is something that he can't just easily forget.
