Markieff Morris suffered a painful injury in the opening half of Game 1 against the Boston Celtics on Monday, taking a contested jump shot against big man Al Horford and fully rolling his left ankle upon landing.

While he intended to go back in the game, he was held back by the medical staff, as the Washington Wizards wanted to take a patient approach to the series.

However, after having a day of rest, there is nothing that can keep the fiery Philadelphia native out of Game 2.

“I’m playing tomorrow. It’s final,” Morris told Candace Buckner of the Washington Post with conviction Monday afternoon. “There’s nothing the doctors can say to me for me not to be able to play.”

Morris claimed that upon impact, he thought he had broken his ankle and consequently said it was the worst ankle injury he's ever had in his life. But down 1-0 in the series, the Wizards will actively search for that missing component to steal one on the road after taking a 123-111 loss on Sunday.

“He’s had treatments all day yesterday and last night and same thing this morning. Just see how he feels game to game,” head coach Scott Brooks said on Monday. “I don’t want to make any call on anything right now. I just know he’s going to get treatments all day today. I’m sure he’s going to do the same thing tomorrow.

“It’s a sprain and our medical team will all get together and do what’s best for him, but right now he’s out until we see how he feels tomorrow.”

His injury looked like more than just a minor day-to-day thing, when asked if he felt he was undercut by Horford, Morris responded: “I'm not sure. I'm [going to] ask him though.”

“I’ve looked at it a couple times,” Morris said about the replay of the injury. “It’s not really that pretty so, couldn’t really watch it too much.”
