Mavs guard Dennis Smith Jr. has been listed as doubtful ahead of the team's Monday night game against the Orlando Magic. Smith did not play in Saturday's 107-104 win over the Houston Rockets due to a right wrist sprain and it sounds as though the injury could keep him out for yet another game.

But according to Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle, Smith is officially doubtful for the home contest against the Magic.

Smith is averaging 13.5 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game this season while playing 28.6 minutes per contest.

He's been one of many reasons why the Mavs have been able to turn things around after a 3-8 start to the year, with Dallas now sitting at 13-11 after getting back on track against the Rockets.

With Mavs star Dirk Nowitzki still expected to be sidelined for the near future, Carlisle will hope to keep his team healthy during what figures to be a crucial stretch of the season. Rookie star Luka Doncic is played very well right now in posting a team-high 18.2 points per game and he will likely continue to be the person that Dallas leans on throughout the season.

But with complimentary pieces like Smith and Harrison Barnes, it gives Carlisle and his staff a nice nucleus to work.

The Mavs will try to keep their momentum rolling against Orlando, and after that, they'll get a few days off before hosting Atlanta on Wednesday night.

After that, a trip to Phoenix is on the schedule for Thursday.
