Former Dallas Mavericks star point guard Steve Nash is about to be inducted to the Hall of Fame in Springfield tonight. Dirk Nowitzki, his former teammate with the Mavs, has been very vocal in honoring the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player and the No. 13 on the back of the legendary point guard's jersey.

Nowitzki is making a pitch to help his former sidekick raise more money for the Steve Nash Foundation, a charity organization founded by Nash himself. The organization's website summarized its enduring advocacy on helping children become holistic individuals.

“The Steve Nash Foundation is a U.S. and Canadian charity dedicated to assisting underserved children in their health, personal development, education and enjoyment of life.”

Recently, the foundation has teamed up with Bleacher Report to arrange a celebrity soccer match in New York so as to raise money and awareness for these children. B/R's Kyle Newport wrote an article on it, mentioning Nash's take on organizing the annual event.

“Being in a position to not only provide a voice for underserved children, but to put action toward it with an annual event is something I'm really passionate about,” Nash said. “Teaming up with Bleacher Report means we'll be able to bring the fun and excitement of Showdown to millions of people through their digital and social platforms, allowing them to take part and contribute to the mission, growing health in kids.”

While Nowitzki has been equally hilarious in roasting his teammates and coaches on social media, he can indeed have whole-hearted acts like how he is helping Nash spread his foundation's advocacy all over the world.
