Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki played his 33rd game of the season against the Orlando Magic, and with that, he passed John Stockton on the all-time list for most games played.

The appearance brings Nowitzki to 1,505 games, propelling him to third place in the list.

Dirk Nowitzki played 21 years in the NBA, starting in 1,445 of the games he's played. He has career averages of 20.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

There are reports that the Mavs great could potentially retire after this season, but the sweet-shooting German has stated on multiple occasions that he has yet decided if he will call it a career after this campaign ends.

Should the 40-year-old play one more season, he could pass Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the second spot in the all-time list, as Dirk only needs 56 games to do so.

The Mavs have 18 games left, and if Nowitzki will play in all of them, he will enter the 2019-20 season only needing 38 games to pass KAJ.

However, it is unlikely for Dirk to pass Robert Parish for the top spot on the list, as he will need to play at least the remaining games of this season, as well as the entirety of the 2019-20 campaign. Parish has played 1,611 career games.

Still, this is an amazing accomplishment for Nowitzki, and it speaks volumes to his longevity and ability to stay healthy for most of his career.
