While Jalen Brunson is gone, Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd is not one bit worried about his departure. In fact, he sees the benefit of getting Spencer Dinwiddie as a starter.

Speaking with ESPN, the Mavs head coach shared his excitement about fielding a taller starting lineup. Christian Wood and JaVale McGee come in as new starters in the frontcourt, and with Dinwiddie set to take over Brunson's position, Kidd sees the team playing better overall.

ā€œWe can't replace Brunson. He's a great player [and] I'm happy for him and his family,ā€ Jason Kidd shared, via ClutchPoints. ā€œā€¦ [But] We believe we're going to be a bigger team. Nothing against JB's height. With Spencer (Dinwiddie) starting, our starting five is gonna be big with JaVale (McGee)at center. We believe that we're going to be having a lot more offense coming off the bench.ā€

Jalen Brunson is a big loss for the Mavs. He is poised for a breakout campaign in 2022-23, and so losing him at this point was pretty brutal for Dallas. However, at the end of the day, the team can only move on and play with the cards they are dealt with.

Furthermore, the Mavs still have every reason to be optimistic. They addressed their biggest weakness in the offseason by adding legitimate big men on their side, and while they lost strong guard play, the return of Tim Hardaway Jr. should at least help alleviate it.

And hey, Dallas still has one of the best players in the NBA in Luka Doncic.
