Luka Doncic was initially supposed to be suspended for the final game of the Dallas Mavericks' regular season before his 16th technical foul got rescinded.. Now Mavs fans wish that were the case after he suffered a calf strain injury in their Sunday night contest against the San Antonio Spurs.

The Mavs star had an awkward fall late in the third quarter and exited the contest:

Jeff Stotts, operator of In Street Clothes which keeps track of sports injuries, detailed how a typical calf strain impacted most NBA players this season. The average would be 16 days lost, with the quickest recoveries being made in just three. Even in the best case scenario, the Mavs made be looking at a hobbled Luka Doncic as they enter the postseason.

Mavs head coach Jason Kidd spoke out about Luka Doncic regarding his injury and what their game plan was entering the contest. Dallas had a slim chance to rise up to the third spot and avoid a potential matchup with the Phoenix Suns in the second round if they won their contest while the Golden State Warriors los theirs against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Kidd admitted that he didn't know much about the injury itself, but emphasized that they were just trying to get the reps in before the season ended to make sure they were better prepared for the start of the playoffs.

Via Mavs reporter Callie Caplan:

“I haven't talked to medical or Luka. . . We'll know more tomorrow. … We weren't playing the New Orleans score. We were just trying to get better with the long layoff,” said the Mavs coach.

The Dallas Mavericks revolved around the superstar that is Luka Doncic. They'll only go as far as he'll be able to take them. It might be difficult for him to do that with an injured calf, but hopefully he can make a swift recovery in time to make the impact the Mavs need from him.
