Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban says Kristaps Porzingis will probably not play this season for the team, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
Kristaps Porzingis tore his left ACL last season with the New York Knicks and is still recovering from the injury. The Mavs acquired Porzingis on Thursday from the Knicks in a blockbuster trade involving DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews and Dennis Smith Jr.
Kristaps Porzingis probably will not play for the Mavericks this season as he continues his recovery from a torn ACL in his left knee suffered a year ago, Dallas owner Mark Cuban told ESPN.

Before he tore his ACL last season, Porzingis was putting up monster numbers for the Knicks. The 7-footer was averaging 22.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 48 games while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from beyond the arc.

The Mavs are clearly being careful with Porzingis, who is only 23 years old. The franchise is hoping Porzingis and Luka Doncic will lead the team for the next decade, so it's not that big of a deal if KP doesn't play this season.
Porzingis will become a restricted free agent after this season. By all accounts, it appears Porzingis is going to sign a qualifying offer with the Mavs, which means Dallas will have the option to match any offer sheet Porzingis signs with another team, should he choose to do so.
Porzingis has career averages of 17.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
