The Dallas Mavericks appear dead serious in adding Delon Wright to their retooled roster for the 2019-20 season.

According to Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News, the Mavs have intensified their pursuit of Wright, who became a restricted free agent earlier this month. Dallas is reportedly planning to tender an offer sheet to the 27-year-old point guard. Their interest in signing Wright will not affect their pursuit of Danny Green.

However, since Wright is a restricted free agent, the Memphis Grizzlies can keep him by matching any offer sheet from Dallas. The former Utah standout remains an option for Memphis after they traded away franchise superstar Mike Conley to the Utah Jazz last month.

Wright split last season between the Toronto Raptors and the Grizzlies. He was sent to Memphis as part of the deal that brought veteran center Marc Gasol to Toronto. In 26 games for the Raptors, Wright showed flashes of brilliance, averaging 12.2 points on top of 5.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.

If the Mavs successfully sign Wright, he could be featured in a starting five that would be headlined by European superstar duo Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. The Mavericks also added hulking center Boban Marjanovic, who agreed to a two-year, $7 million deal with the team.
