NBA legend and future Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki was honored at Staples Center during the first quarter of the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks. A video tribute was shown on the scoreboard and Nowitzki received a standing ovation from the fans in the arena.

Nowitzki played his entire 21-year career with the Mavericks, where he appeared in 1,522 games. He averaged 20.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists for Dallas. He also led the franchise to its first and only NBA title back in 2011, where he was also hailed as the Finals MVP. Dirk also won the league MVP back in 2007.

Dirk is also considered as one of the best forwards to ever play in the NBA. He's a 14-time All-Star, a four-time All-NBA first team member, and he is fifth in the NBA's all-time scoring list with 31,150 total points in his career.
