Tempers flared during Friday's Big Ten Tournament showdown between the Michigan Wolverines and Maryland Terrapins.

Both head coaches came together at midcourt during a timeout. Maryland head coach Turgeon appeared to point at Wolverines head coach Juwan Howard, which really set Howard off.

Howard nearly went at Turgeon as his assistants restrained him and players from both teams attempted to intervene. The former “Fab Five” member was promptly ejected by officials.

Nothing quite like the drama of Big Ten basketball, especially this season.

It's not certain what was said, but there's been some ideas thrown out there.

The Big Ten has unquestionably been the best conference in college basketball this season, with four teams in the top 10 of the last AP Top 25 poll.

Michigan entered the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 4 team in the country, a testament to the job Howard has done since he took over for John Beilein ahead of the 2019-20 season.

The Wolverines went just 19-12 last season but posted a 19-3 record this season en route to a Big Ten regular-season championship. Freshman center Hunter Dickinson has been one of the best players in the country, and sophomore Franz Wagner is generating some buzz as a possible lottery pick. Senior guards Isaiah Livers and Mike Smith have been tremendous, as well.

But the Terrapins are not backing down from Howard or the Wolverines, nor should they. Turgeon's team bolstered its NCAA Tournament resume with a win over Michigan State on Thursday. A win over Michigan would almost certainly put them in the field of 68.

However, the Wolverines had the advantage late and went on to beat Maryland by a score of 79-66.
