The 2023 Michigan football team might be Jim Harbaugh's best squad since he came to Ann Arbor in 2015. The Wolverines are 8-0 on the season and they are currently ranked #2 in the country. This team has been absolutely dominating every team that has been in their way, and because of that, they are now the betting favorite to win the national championship. However, the biggest story surrounding Michigan's season is now on the recent NCAA investigation into the Wolverines program for sign stealing. A low-level staffer, Conor Stalions, has been suspended with pay from the Michigan football program, and there is now evidence that he bought tickets to over 35 college football games in recent years.

Now, the question becomes whether or not Michigan was breaking the rules, and if so, what the punishment will be. We likely won't have those answers for awhile. Right now, a lot of prominent college football personalities are sharing their thoughts on the matter, and Michigan football legend Desmond Howard recently offered his stance.

“This is something that a lot of programs, they try to do,” Howard said on ESPN’s College Football Live. “I mean, why would you not? You have some three quarterbacks on the sideline signaling plays. It’s almost as if the offensive coordinator dares you to try to decode their system. I was actually surprised. I didn’t even know there was a rule against scouting because we’ve always scouted teams from high school to college to the NFL. So I didn’t even know there was a rule.”

Desmond Howard is right, this happens all over the country, it's just a matter of getting caught or not. Now, we wait for the Michigan investigation to run its course.

“But with that being said, it seems as though something has happened with this rogue individual who went to stadiums and looked at the other team’s signals,” Howard continued. “We’re gonna see. Jim Harbaugh said he’s going to cooperate fully. The athletic director, Warde Manuel, he pretty much said the same thing. So we’ll see where it goes from here.”

Howard is doing what everyone should be doing. A lot of people are trying to jump the gun and reach their own conclusions, but there's nothing else to do at this point besides waiting and seeing.
