The unranked Missouri women's basketball team won their game on Thursday against the AP No. 1 South Carolina Gamecocks with a last-second OT shot by Lauren Hansen. The loss by South Carolina snaps the Gamecocks' 43-game winning streak against unranked opponents, which entered Thursday as the longest streak in NCAA Division I, according to ESPN's Stats and Info:

Coming into the game, Missouri was 12-2 on the season and had a very good two-point loss to Baylor as one of them. The problem for the Tigers was that their other loss, a 28-point blowout loss to Missouri State has held the voters back from including them in the NCAA women's basketball top-25. They also came into the game extremely shorthanded. They were without their best player, Aijha Blackwell, along with Da’Necia Trusty, Skylah Travis, Jayla Kelly, and Micah Linthacum due to health and safety protocols. That didn't matter as Lauren Hansen stepped up and not only hit the winning shot but also led her team in scoring.

Their ranking might come after this win, though, as it was a victory in which the Tigers saw themselves jump to first place in the SEC. They will hope to improve to 15-2 after they take on three straight unranked teams in the Vanderbilt Commodores, Auburn Tigers, and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

All three are formidable opponents, but one's that Missouri should be able to handle. Especially since they are all conference matchups for the rest of the season, it is now or never for the Tigers to go on a run. If they are going to go on the said run, it will most likely be led by Hayley Frank, LaDazhia Williams, Lauren Hansen–who hit the game-winning shot on Thursday, and of course, Aijha Blackwell.
