Major League Baseball has recently announced that they will not be able to resolve the current lockout and that the 2022 season will be delayed.
This is really disheartening for not only the game of baseball but also for all baseball fans. Baseball is in a bad place right now, and commissioner Rob Manfred isn't doing a good job of promoting the game and doing the things that are required for it to succeed.
At the moment, it appears that fans are far more enraged than the majority of players. MLB fans have been venting their frustrations on Twitter all day, and have done so for the past few months since the lockout began.
Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred is now delivering a press conference in Jupiter, Florida.
According to Jeff Passan, MLB insider for ESPN, Rob Manfred had this to say,
“The concerns of our fans are at the very top of our consideration list.” — Rob Manfred, on the day MLB canceled regular-season games, during a league-initiated lockout.
Given that the MLB is not doing the right thing by enabling fans to see their favorite players and teams, it's difficult to agree with what the commissioner is stating here. The deal would have been over by now if the MLB truly cared about its fans, but it is presently at a standstill, and it is unclear when it will change.
If people in baseball cared about what was going on in their league, they would have finished this lockdown a few months ago, and players would have already started spring training, there would have been no cancellations, and this year's season would have been normal.
