Nerlens Noel has been in headlines recently more than he has ever been for his on-court play. The New York Knicks big man challenged one of the most prominent background figures in the NBA and longtime ally of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, Rich Paul.

There has been a lot of back-and-forth on the issue from various voices, including a recent Twitter beef between Noel and outspoken NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins. In a recent piece from Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer, various agents weighed in on the scandal that shone a spotlight on the industry's inner workings. While some reportedly celebrated the fallout hitting Paul, one voice pinned some blame on Nerlens Noel himself.

Via Bleacher Report:

“The truth is Nerlens Noel is not innocent in this,” another agent said. “If you're silly enough to turn down that kind of money, that's not on Rich.”

Paul's defense would be simple: An agent can never be held accountable for accurately predicting the future. He was providing a client with counsel, counsel that Noel did not have to accept, and if Noel did not suffer an injury, he very well could have garnered a richer deal.

The alleged bet-on-yourself advice wasn't the only gripe that Nerlens Noel had against Rich Paul. But that part of the complaint has some, including Perkins and some NBA agents, painting Noel as culpable for his own mistakes to an extent.
