NBA commissioner Adam Silver explained why he is not concerned that the top free agents end up choosing big-market teams as their next destination.

Per Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, Silver shared his thoughts on the free agent signings by the Brooklyn Nets and the LA Clippers. For Silver, the two teams are “non-traditional big-market teams” and at the end of the day, the NBA wants to be a “league where strong management is rewarded.”

This year's free agency saga saw Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant — two of the league's top stars — join forces in the Brooklyn Nets. Though some expected them to head to the New York Knicks, one of the biggest markets in the US, Brooklyn is still in New York. And with it comes tons of marketing opportunities for anyone who signs up.

Los Angeles, who already had one of the polarizing athletes in the world in LeBron James, added Anthony Davis to their roster. And the Clippers, who share the same home arena with the Purple and Gold, also landed Kawhi Leonard. The reigning Finals MVP also brought along fellow South California native Paul George with him.

Now the two teams in LA and one team in New York house the biggest stars in all of basketball. While some are saddened that the smaller market teams missed out on luring them in, almost all are pleased with how the free agency turned out.

At face value, the balance in the league has tilted as everyone has a chance at winning the title. Moreover, just like what Adam Silver said, the front office of teams who laid all their chips down were properly rewarded.
