NBA commissioner Adam Silver has been one of the most sought-after personalities during this weekend's All-Star festivities. The media was able to catch up with the 57-year-old head honcho during his All-Star weekend press conference, and interestingly enough, one of the most hotly-discussed items on the agenda was the major changes Silver hopes to implement in the league's season format.

According to the commissioner, they are still in the process of hashing out the details of these potential changes, but at this point, he strongly believes that it will only be a matter of time before these come to fruition.

“What we're now doing is having further conversations with the players, the players association, our teams, and media partners, and saying, ‘what are the appropriate changes we should be making?'” Silver said, via John Chick of theScore. “I strongly believe we will end up with some sort of in-season tournament and a play-in tournament.”

Silver then went on to admit that he may have gotten a bit ahead of himself in trying to implement these significant revisions too soon. Nonetheless, his belief remains steadfast in the fact that the rest of the league will come around sooner rather than later.

“I may have been a little naive in thinking that for the 75th anniversary we could say ‘let's make all these changes' … The sense of virtually all the groups I spoke to is that these are significant changes, we should fully vet them and deliberate them, but then when it comes time to make them, we should make them,” he said.

The changes Silver is spearheading will have a tremendous impact on how teams will approach the season. It will require a lot of adjustments not only from the teams, but more importantly, from the players as well. If all goes according to plan, however, we should all end up with a much improved NBA within the next few years.
