NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Director of the NBA Players Association Michele Roberts will hold a phone call on Friday (May 8) for all players in the league, per Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.

In a follow-up tweet, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the phone call idea “originates as an NBPA conference call with union membership — with Adam Silver joining Michele Roberts in what's expected to be an informational check-in with players.”

It's unclear at the moment if Silver will give any new information regarding scenarios for how and when the 2019-20 season can potentially resume. The NBA Commissioner said early last month that no decisions on a timetable would be made until at least May 1st.

In addition to the general check-in, it's safe to assume that Silver and Roberts will discuss the re-opening of team practice facilities and the safety protocols being put in place. Recently, the league issued a memo announcing that franchises in states that have eased social distancing restrictions could re-open their facilities on Friday. That includes up to 15 teams, though only three are planning on doing so on May 8th at the moment.

The league outlined an extensive list of safety requirements for re-opening facilities. Among them, players must remain 12 feet apart at all times, no coaches are allowed in the building, and no more than four players are allowed in the facility at any given time.
