Charles Barkley and Scottie Pippen have been retired from the NBA for 1985986 years now, but they continue to stir a buzz with their controversial statements.

Both Hall of Fame members have never been shy about expressing their opinions on various subjects, NBA-related or not. But for Barkley and Pippen, trash-talking each other is the best kind of intellectual discussion.

Recently, Pippen called Barkley a “fake tough guy” and someone who didn't fight people unless there were referees around. The former MVP already called out the Chicago Bulls legend for “burning every bridge” just to stay relevant, but on Wednesday, Barkley doubled down on his savage remarks (via ESPN 1000).

“I don't walk around saying I'm Billy Badass, but I can promise you one thing I'm tougher then Scottie Pippen. Let me put that to rest right now.”

Nah, he's not tweaking.

Barkley and Pippen played one year together with the Houston Rockets during the 1998-99 season, but they didn't have the cushiest relationship. After all, they had their intense battles in the past when they were still with the Suns and Bulls. They were also teammates with the Dream Team in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. So they sure know each other pretty well.

Aside from Barkley, Pippen has also made controversial comments against other luminaries in the last few months. He said he never had a strong off-court friendship with Michael Jordan while also accusing former Bulls coach Phil Jackson of being a racist.

Well, with Charles Barkley, it looks like Scottie Pippen has met his match.
