Sacramento Kings point guard De'Aaron Fox couldn't help but laugh through Twitter when the New York Knicks landed the number eight pick in the 2020 draft.

The Knicks were hoping to land in the top three with the hopes of turning the franchise's future around, but instead dropped a few spots down.

The Knicks have become the NBA's punching bag of late after missing out on superstar free agents Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, who both opted to go to the other New York franchise, the Brooklyn Nets. The controversy surrounding owner James Dolan doesn't help either, so when something bad happens to the franchise, everyone around the league seems to laugh.

De'Aaron Fox's Kings, though, aren't in a better place, as they haven't made the playoffs since 2006. They have the longest playoff drought in the NBA.

The Knicks are under new leadership. Leon Rose is the new president and Tom Thibodeau is the new head coach. New York fans are praying Rose and Thibs can save the organization and lead the franchise back to the promised land. The Knicks haven't made the playoffs or had a winning record since the 2012-13 season.

The Knicks can still get a good player in the draft with the eighth pick. However, fans of the team were hoping for the top pick since they missed out on Zion Williamson in 2019.

With that said, it will be interesting to see who Rose and Thibs decide to draft at the eight spot.

Right now, the roster in New York is built around RJ Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, Kevin Knox, and Frank Ntilikina. Whenever the offseason starts, Julius Randle and Dennis Smith Jr. could be traded.
