Villanova Wildcats head coach Jay Wright has no plans of following in the footsteps of Rick Pitino, Billy Donovan and Brad Stevens – at least for now. Having steered the Villanova Wildcats to the program’s second national title in three years just last April, it’s possible that Wright is receiving some coaching job overtures from the NBA teams which are looking for a new mentor.

Among those teams are the New York Knicks, who are still in search for a replacement for recently-sacked head coach Jeff Hornacek. Unfortunately for the Knicks, Jay Wright appears to be content with his job in Villanova, per Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Wright’s agent, in his first public remarks since a published report stated the Knicks have interest, said on the record Wright won’t speak to any NBA clubs and will defend the school’s 2018 NCAA championship.

“He’s under contract with Villanova and he’s very, very happy there,’’ his longtime agent, Carl Hirsch, told The Post. “There’s no plans to leave.’’

With Wright at the helm, the Wildcats were able to finish the 2017-18 season with a 36-4 overall record, a Big East title, and the aforementioned national title by beating the Michigan Wolverines in the NCAA Tournament championship game.

Wright, however, will have a very different Villanova unit to work with next season, as his top guys this past campaign like Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Omari Spellman, Eric Paschall, and title game hero Donte DiVincenzo have either declared for the 2018 NBA Draft or are thinking of turning pro.
