Two-time NBA champion JR Smith recently called out the famous Instagram page House of Highlights for reposting a TikTok video shot by a student at North Carolina A&T captioned “He probably off the Henny right now.”

The former Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers sharpshooter angrily responded by commenting:

“Ight that Henny shit really not funny tho can y’all try a different joke, Not really mad at the kid honestly they gone say whatever but @HouseofHighlights the disrespect y’all post it’s truly enough. As a Black man in America y’all still can’t move on from the bullshit that people continue to put on your name! Not one positive post about going to school an trying to better myself! Y’all make it look so weak/corney to inspire my people to want to do better you consistently bring up an post bullshit.”

The Hennessy jokes started when people mistakenly thought Smith was addicted to the famous cognac as he was often seen drinking throughout the Cavaliers' championship parade in 2016.

However, Smith actually cleared things up back in 2020 on Bleacher Report's “The Warzone”  when he said he was actually carrying a bottle of champagne instead of Hennessy.

JR Smith recently enrolled at North Carolina A&T University, an HBCU, to pursue a degree in liberal studies and to play collegiate golf.

Smith had a chance to play for college sports as he was committed to joining Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball team before deciding to skip college to declare himself available for the 2004 NBA draft.

In his 17 seasons in the NBA, Smith averaged 12.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.0 steals.

It will be interesting to see how Smith will fare in his first season with the North Carolina A&T men’s golf team.
