Although many bets have already been made regarding the upcoming NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors, some oddsmakers are having a tough time figuring out what to do. This all stems from the biggest question in the series, and that’s if Warriors superstar Kevin Durant is able to play:

“It’s an impossible handicap,” William Hill book director Nick Bogdanovich said, per the New York Post.

Durant missed the end of the second-round series against the Houston Rockets and the entire Western Conference Finals against the Portland Trail Blazers. Durant is now out for Game 1 of the NBA Finals and possibly out for Game 2, though he's expected to travel with the team to Toronto.

According to Bogdanovich, the uncertain nature of Durant's injury makes the series difficult to peg:

“A star player of Durant’s stature is usually worth about five points, but Golden State keeps proving that’s not his worth, and that’s not to fault him,” Bogdanovich said. “The Raptors just beat some pretty damn good teams from the East in Philadelphia and Milwaukee, so I think they can hang. I don’t think it will be a walkover whatsoever.”

Needless to say, the constant cloud of whether or not Durant will be able to play in these Finals has not only impacted the Warriors and Raptors, but those looking to bet as well. Should Durant be able to play, it’ll be a huge boost for the Warriors, and a huge boost in their odds to win the title, too.
