The Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James and the Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry have been named captains for the All-Star Game. In another official announcement from the NBA, the Cavs forward will be the first to pick from a pool of starters owing to his overall lead in the All-Star voting.

On the other hand, the Warriors guard will be the first to pick a jersey color for his team, because the Western Conference will be designated as the home team for the game.

“The starters, voted in by fans, players and a media panel, were revealed Thursday. James has the first pick in the draft as the leading vote getter overall, while Curry has first choice of jersey color, due to the Western Conference having home team status for the game.”

James and Curry as captains for the All-Star Game will be a treat. The game can be seen as another rivalry match for the superstars who have met three consecutive times in the Finals.

It may give a more intense feeling for the All-Star Game, as it has been lackluster over the past few years.

The last All-Star Games have been full of poor defensive efforts and experimental shots, making them more like exhibition games instead of serious affairs where fans are able to see the best of the best battle it out.

This has prompted the NBA to change the game's format. Now, the captains will be able to choose from a pool of starters and reserves. The game will be played on Feb. 18 at Los Angeles' Staples Center.
