Retired NBA player Matt Barnes is having a grand time enjoying his retirement. He's been out of the game since 2017 and is voicing his opinion on the NBA every now and then. He seems bored not doing anything basketball-related, though. In order to combat his boredom, he has seemingly found the answer to his problems in the form of taking on a basketball-related job. His target? The open LA Sparks GM gig.

He sent out a tweet declaring his interest in the position:

While the tweet seems legitimate, everyone in the league knows that there's no way he'll take on the position as long as Derek Fisher is the team's head coach.

For the uninitiated, the two former Lakers teammates are involved due to one woman. In 2015, Barnes drove 95 miles to confront Fisher for dating his ex-wife, actress Gloria Govan.

The tension doesn't end there, though. As late as August 2018, Fisher provided support for his now-fiance for her legal battle against her ex-husband. He supplemented evidence that the two are still texting to sort out their issues, contrary to Barnes' belief.

If Barnes did take his tweet seriously and apply for the post, the team will be rife with unneeded tension. While both of them are professional enough that they can play through it, there's a doubt that the team can function properly with the two of them in the same building.

Regardless of Barnes' seriousness on the Sparks position, it's interesting to hear him express interest in a front-office position. If he wants to, there's a franchise that may be willing to give him a shot.
