The league is making the upcoming NBA All-Star Game as interesting as they can. Their latest announcement is sure to make waves among basketball fans with the NBA blowing up the previous format of the All-Star Game draft in favor of a new method that is going to be quite fascinating.

According to the NBA's official Twitter account, for the first time ever, the NBA All-Star Game draft will take place right before the game:

That's pretty shocking, and to be honest, I, for one, think that this is an awesome idea. The team captains will still be tasked to choose their players from the pool of voted All-Star starters and reserves, but unlike in years past, they're going to be doing it just moments before tip-off.

Right now, it's LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo who are leading the votes in the West and the East, respectively, so unless there is a significant development in the next round of voting (Kevin Durant is just a little over a hundred thousand votes behind Giannis), these two will be the team captains of their respective conferences. There's obviously going to be a lot of pressure on them to pick a team on the fly.

The NBA has decided to go for a playground-type format here and as they may have expected, it has sent Twitter buzzing. I just hope they do the draft in center court with all the players waiting for their names to be called. Now that would be the cherry on top of the cake.
