With nothing going on in the NBA at the moment due to the coronavirus pandemic, The Athletic's renowned NBA insider Shams Charania opted to somehow cover the 2020 NFL Draft in the meantime.

The surprising crossover happened on Thursday when Charania bared that the Miami Dolphins will be taking Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa with their No. 5 pick.

Moments later, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed Miami's selection of the 22-year-old quarterback. The left-hander from Hawaii is expected to provide big contributions right away for Miami and change the culture in that locker room.

The Cincinnati Bengals held on the number one pick and went with 2019 Heisman Trophy Winner Joe Burrows, while the Washington Redskins took on Chase Young at number two. Jeff Okudah (Detroit Lions) and Andrew Thomas (New York Giants) were taken third and fourth, respectively.

It was business as usual for the NFL, who conducted the draft virtually for the first time in history. With the pandemic continuing to wreak havoc globally, the NBA is expected to follow the same route for the 2020 NBA Draft come June 25.

Shams Charania's Twitter page, meanwhile, is noticeably not as busy as it usually is these days. He still breaks news around the association from time to time, mostly concerning the league's front office moves.

The NBA, on the other hand, is still carefully wading through the waters in terms of its approach to the COVID-19 pandemic. While most fans are pushing for the 2019-20 NBA campaign, the league will reportedly wait for the go-signal from health officials to make it happen.

It remains uncertain when this pandemic will be over and everyone can return to their normal lives. We probably will be getting more non-NBA tweets from Charania in the meantime.
