Does your favorite NBA team need a veteran like Rajon Rondo? If so, you may be in luck. The Memphis Grizzlies may not have him in their future plans.

The Los Angeles Clippers had sent Rajon Rondo packing to Memphis alongside Daniel Oturu and Patrick Beverley in a cost-cutting move. The Grizzlies have already gone ahead and flipped Pat Bev for Juancho Hernangomez and Jarrett Culver. Now it seems the writing is also on the wall for the former Boston Celtics standout.

Grizzlies beat writer and insider Drew Hill of the Daily Memphian reported on the team's rumored disinterest in keeping Rajon Rondo.

There are simply too many players for a 15-man roster, and Memphis added two more following the trade that sent Patrick Beverley to Minnesota. The Grizzlies will have to find a way to get players off the roster, potentially by buying players out, trading or waiving them.

Will Rajon Rondo be part of the team at the season’s beginning? Probably not. What about Sam Merrill? Seems unlikely.

At first glance, you'd think that a potential mentorship could brew between Rondo and Grizzlies star guard Ja Morant. After all, Rondo was one of the best passers the NBA has ever seen, while Morant was a top 10 assist man in the league last season. Surely Ja could learn a thing or two from the 15-year NBA veteran.

But looking at it from Rajon Rondo's perspective, at 35 years old you'd probably rather be playing for a contender than serving as a guide for the next generation. There'll be plenty of time for that once you retire. Perhaps Rondo has expressed that sentiment to the front office?
