After going through a rough patch, the Boston Celtics seemed to have turned things around for the time being. They're currently on a three-game win streak after defeating the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday. However, only being one game above .500, Danny Ainge still seems interested in shaking up the roster. Among the latest news to hit the rumor mill is that the Celtics are interested in Jerami Grant, who is having a spectacular year for the Detroit Pistons, as well as Nikola Vucevic, the starting center for the Orlando Magic.

Grant is having a standout year, and considering the Celtics are searching for motivated players, he fits the bill in what Boston is searching for.

Via Shams Charania of The Athletic:

“Among top trade targets for the Celtics: Detroit’s Jerami Grant, sources said. Grant is having a breakout season, averaging 23.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He is a leader for the Most Improved Player of the Year award.”

On the other hand, the Celtics could use a scoring big-man down low to elevate the offense a bit. Tristan Thompson is a fantastic rebounder, but he doesn't provide much scoring in his repertoire.

“The Celtics and Hornets are among teams interested in Magic two-time All-Star Nikola Vucevic, sources said. Rival teams expect that any haul for Vucevic would have to be massive. The 7-foot big man is having his best NBA season, averaging 24.5 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists while shooting 41.8 percent from 3-point range. Vucevic has spent nine of his 10 NBA seasons in Orlando.”

For the Celtics to pull one, or both of these trades off could be what this organization needs to separate themselves away from the mediocre teams in the Eastern Conference. However, Ainge will have to give up some assets to obtain either Grant and/or Vucevic.

Additionally, it also seems Boston is also interested in Nemanja Bjelica or Harrison Barnes as well. Both of which have performed well for the Sacramento Kings, to the point where they each have garnered interest from around the league. They could be cheaper options for the Celtics to acquire via trade.
