The ending of Game 3 between the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics was interesting to say the least. The call that decided the game was a foul that led to free throws for Marcus Smart – but there was clearly disagreement on just how many there were supposed to be.

With just seconds left on the clock and the Celtics down three points, Marcus Smart was fouled by the Bucks at the top of the key. The referees deemed the play a rip-through move and not an actual shooting foul. Check out the play and judge for yourself:

Smart himself lambasted the call after the game. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year asserted that the situation called for a three-point shot – and that was what he went for.

Via ESPN:

“Wouldn't make sense for me to do a rip-through move on the 3-point line when you got a clear shot for three when you are down three,” said Smart after their two-point loss to the Bucks on Saturday.

However, the Bucks defender who got called for the foul on the play, Jrue Holiday, saw it differently.

But as the two sides broke down the video frame by frame — “It looked like he was still facing the sidelines. That's not a shooting motion,” said Bucks guard Jrue Holiday, who committed the foul.

There's a razor-thin margin between some of the most crucial calls in NBA games. Whether or not you agree with the said call that ultimately decided the game in the Bucks' favor, it's hard to deny that circumstances lend to either argument.
