The crowd in the Boston Garden chanted ā€˜Beat LA' against the Charlotte Hornets in the Celtics' 126-94 victory on Wednesday night.

It is likely that they are referring to that ginormous football game this Sunday between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams.

But given the events that have transpired this week, however, one can't really tell.

Superstar center Anthony Davis requested a trade that spiraled out of control before anybody could even drink their morning coffee on Monday. Since then, rumors have circulated on where the five-time NBA All-Star will land in the coming weeks.

Though the Los Angeles Lakers are at the top of the list, at least for the next week, the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks are right on their heels – especially for after the Feb. 7 trade deadline.

According to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, the Celtics and Knicks could turn into frontrunners to sign Davis if he can make it through next week without being dealt (h/t Justin Leger of NBC Sports Boston).

ā€œIf we get past Feb. 7, the Celtics' chances of acquiring Anthony Davis go I think to like 90 percent because of Jayson Tatum,ā€ Mannix said Wednesday on Celtics Pregame Live. ā€œNow Boston won't want to include Tatum in that mix, but if other teams start to get involved, let me tell you this: The team I would be most nervous about come lottery night is the New York Knicks, because the New York Knicks could send [Kristaps] Porzingis and the No. 1 overall pick. That would scare me if I were the Celtics.ā€

What isn't ideal for the Celtics at the moment, though, is that the Pelicans may be moving on from the 6-foot-10 power forward sooner than expected.

The Celtics play against the Los Angeles Lakers again on next Thursday's trade deadline, which couldn't be a more entertaining date between the two teams while they are both in heavy pursuit of The Brow.
