New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis is finally on the trade block, a moment the Boston Celtics have been preparing for for a long time.

According to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, the Celtics have been diligently preparing for this scenario for months and consulted with their current players to gauge their thoughts about teaming up with Davis.

Davis’ friendship with Kyrie Irving has been well-documented, and the sense within the organization is that the presence of Irving can only help Boston if it trades for Davis without an assurance that he will re-sign after the 2019-20 season.

The Celtics have the type of assets the Pelicans should want in an Anthony Davis trade. A package of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and multiple draft picks should be able to get the job done.

However, Boston can't trade for Anthony Davis this season without giving up star point guard Kyrie Irving because of the “Rose rule,” which is named after Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Derrick Rose. So, the Celtics have to hope that the Pelicans wait until the summer to trade The Brow if they want to pair Irving with Davis in Beantown.
