Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens bodes to have a fully healthy lineup at some point this upcoming season, as his two biggest stars in Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving return from season-ending injuries.

Irving recently turned down a contract extension, only a year after joining the Celtics via trade — but his coach won't be the one lobbying to keep him in town.

“I’m not going to talk to him at all. One of things I want to do is give everything I can to all these guys while they’re here,” said Stevens as a guest in The Yahoo Sports NBA podcast. “Hopefully the people that are here recognize that it’s a really good environment with a high upside for a long time. … There’s no real discussion to be had. We can’t wait to get to work. … When that time comes for any free agent to look over what their options are, you hope that you’ve separated yourself with the everyday relationship and the work there. … He’s been so good to me, and everybody around here likes him so much, we don’t even think about it to be real candid.”

Irving has been rumored to make a potential move for his hometown New York Knicks, as a New Jersey native. The Knicks have been intent in clearing enough cap space to add another superstar to pair with unicorn Kristaps Porzingis.

The Celtics will have a tough time retaining this core, considering the imminent long-term commitments on the waiting line for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, along with the extensive deals doled out to Hayward and potentially Irving as soon as next offseason.
