Boston Celtics president Danny Ainge noted the team may protest the second technical foul star point guard Kemba Walker received on Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs:

Walker was returning from a three-game absence due to an illness but saw his stint on the court ending faster than he expected after referee Evan Scott tossed him after back-to-back technical fouls.

The Celtics guard was irate after being on the wrong end of a LaMarcus Aldridge pick. Walker waved at the air and got up and approached Scott, who paid him no mind and issued his first technical. Walker continued to pursue Scott, getting his second technical and consequent ejection seconds later.

Crew Chief Rodney Mott explained the situation briefly to a pool reporter:

“In real time, it's a difficult play,” said Mott, according to The Associated Press. “But we did deem the screen to be legal, as LaMarcus was set.”

Both technicals were for profanity, according to Mott. This marked Walker's first career ejection in his nine years in the league. The Celtics star explained his point of view after the game:

“I thought I was being nice,” said Walker, a two-time winner of the NBA's Joe Dumars Award for sportsmanship. “I thought the ref missed the call. The rest is history.”

Walker, who was meant to be on a time restriction coming off his illness, logged only 18 minutes before being ejected on Wednesday, chipping in six points, three rebounds, and four assists during the Celtics' 129-114 loss to the Spurs.
