Gordon Hayward turned a lot of heads recently when a video of him putting up some jumpers went viral. It came as a surprise as he appears to be ahead of schedule in his recovery from the gruesome opening night foot injury he suffered. He then took to his blog to give his fans an update on his road to full recovery.

The All-Star forward talked about using advanced forms of technology to get him back to game-shape. He also said that he is feeling good now that he does not have a brace on and that he can put his full weight on his legs.

“The biggest change is that I’ve been out of the brace for a couple weeks now, and everything is feeling pretty good. It definitely feels good to walk around the house without the brace. The act of walking finally feels normal. That’s really nice.”

“This is the first time I’ve ever used the AlterG, and if you don’t know what it is, it uses air pressure technology to allows you to rehab without putting your full body weight on your legs. It’s like you don’t have the full effect of gravity on you (which is where the name comes from). When you set it to 20% or 30% of your body weight, it feels like you’re so much lighter and you’re just kind of walking on air. It kind of helps me slowly progress and still get the same range of motion that I would normally be getting, so that’s really cool.”

Gordon Hayward is already looking forward to doing some leg raises and adding more exercises to his regimen. There is still growing belief that he may suit up for the Boston Celtics later this season, depending on how he progresses. His potential addition will be a huge boost to his team, as he will give them more depth in their forward rotation and his playoff experience will also come in handy for the C’s.

The 27-year-old couldn’t have given a more fitting title to his latest blog entry as he called it “The Rehab Grind.” It is definitely a grind and he understands how difficult it will still be for him in the coming months. However, he has shown that he is determined to regain his old form, and with his team, family, and friends, as well as the entire city of Boston all rooting for him, he may just return to playing sooner rather than later.
