The stark contrast in the Boston Celtics' mood has been quite evident this season, going from a rollercoaster ride of constant ups and downs last season to a more even-keeled, fun-loving atmosphere with Kemba Walker as the ring leader. Fourth-year wing Jaylen Brown admitted the chemistry in the locker room isn't by any means perfect with so many new additions, but it's good enough to be upbeat about their situation.

“It's not perfect. It's not like utopia in our locker room,” Jaylen Brown told NBC Sports Boston sideline reporter Abby Chin after a 109-103 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. “But it's great. Nothing is ever going to be exactly the way that you want it to be. That's the good thing about a family, people argue but you still love them at the end of the day.

“Everybody always compares things to last year but — to be honest it is a better environment, but there's ups and downs. It's part of the journey.”

The Celtics seemed to have more downs than ups last season, considering that Kyrie Irving's mood often would reflect on the rest of the team. Walker's upbeat approach has had a similar effect, but lighting up his peers — something that has translated to an 18-7 record and a second place in the East, 4.5 games back from the conference-leading Milwaukee Bucks.

Team chemistry will play a large part in an arduous 82-game season, with plenty left to experience, as the Celtics approach the one-third mark of this 2019-20 season. Should Walker continue this positive approach, the chemistry will only improve with time, making the Celtics a dangerous opponent come playoff time.
