The Boston Celtics have found their groove — now sporting the second-longest win streak in the league, winning six straight after a bar-measuring win over the first-place Toronto Raptors, putting them only two games behind the leader with six games left in the schedule, including a rematch on the road against their Eastern Conference rivals.
Shooting guard Jaylen Brown feels snatching the top-seed from the Raptors is very much within reach, especially after a well-earned win over them.
“I feel we're the No. 1 team in the East. It's only fitting if we're the No. 1 seed,” said Brown, according to Scott Souza of the Metro West Daily News.
The Celtics have been able to navigate this latter stretch of the season effectively, especially after the wave of injuries that have hit them over the last few weeks with Kyrie Irving and Marcus Smart out for the foreseeable future.
Article Continues BelowBrown touted his coach Brad Stevens, calling him the “Coach of the Year” after leading the team to a 53-23 record thus far and managing to make the best out of the squad without some of their main cogs.
“I give tremendous credit to the team that we have, and Danny Ainge for putting it together, but Brad also leading out with the scheme, the plan that we want to execute each and every day,” said Brown.
The Celtics will have two tough tests against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Raptors on the road, before coming home to the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks to finish out the week.
