The Boston Celtics may have taken the lead for the first time in the Eastern Conference Finals, but Jayson Tatum warns his teammates not to get too complacent. After all, they are facing a well-coached and deep Miami Heat team.
Tatum and co. demolished the Heat on Wednesday, leading by as much as 23 points before settling for the 93-80 win. The Celtics struggled in the first half of the contest, but they eventually found their groove in the second half to pull away for good.
Despite showing their depth and sending a message that the Heat are no match to them, Tatum reminded his team that no lead is safe in the NBA, especially in the playoffs. Plus with their backs against the wall, Jimmy Butler and Miami will only be more motivated to bounce back and extend the series to a Game 7.
“This is far from over. We just went into Milwaukee and won a very big Game 6,” Tatum said, per NBA insider Keith Smith.

As for their mentality heading into Game 6, Jayson Tatum wants the Celtics to think they are the ones trailing and not the other way around. With that, he hopes Boston will have that sense of urgency to close things out.
“We need to go into Friday like we down 3-2. This is a great team. They're well coached. They aren't going to give up,” he added.
The Celtics are certainly brimming with confidence after their Game 5 victory, and they should be. They were able to win despite not playing at their best, so imagine what they can do when everything clicks.
Sure enough, they'll be hoping that's what happens come Friday. The Heat are not easy opponents, but the Celtics have the momentum right now. They just have to do their best not to lose it.
