The 2021 season for the Boston Celtics will go down as one of missed opportunity and head-scratching results. What was thought to be a team that could compete for the Eastern Conference crown instead turned out to be a squad that had to scratch through the play-in tournament just to punch a ticket to the NBA playoffs.

While most waited all season long for the Celtics to turn the switch on, it just never happened. Piling on top of it was Jaylen Brown's season ending injury at the end of the regular season and Kemba Walker missing both of Boston's final two playoff games against the Brooklyn Nets.

After the Game 5 loss and the boot from the playoffs, Celtics all-star Jayson Tatum reflected on the year that was and to put it bluntly, he wasn't thrilled.

Via NESN.com, here's what Tatum said.

ā€œAm I mad that we lost? Yeah, I’m mad,ā€ Tatum said in a postgame video conference. ā€œFirst time being eliminated in the first round, it’s not good, it’s not the way that we envisioned this season going, but I guess it’s a learning experience that myself and other guys can take with them for the rest of their careers. We can learn a lot from this.ā€ – Jayson Tatum.

This offseason figures to be very intriguing for the Celtics. Danny Ainge is used to wheeling and dealing to help mold his best version of what he wants the roster to look like. After a deflating season, in some way or another, things stand to change with this current Boston unit before next year arrives.
