Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum will return from a three-game absence after suffering a groin injury, but will play limited minutes when facing the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, according to the team.
Tatum had strung together three 20-point games before he went down to injury, now averaging 21.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.4 steals per game on the season.
The Celtics have slid to fourth place after going 6-4 in their last 10 games, but have picked up some massive wins against the Los Angeles Lakers and even the Miami Heat without Tatum.

His return should allow for a fully healthy lineup and a boost of firepower against the worst team in the league, giving Tatum a chance to work himself through the game and see how he feels after a week-long absence.
The Celtics will be without backup center Enes Kanter tonight, but head coach Brad Stevens isn't expecting a long absence, noting he should soon return to the lineup.
With a win over the Warriors, the Celtics could catch up to the Heat and snatch third place from them after holding a 2-0 tiebreaker lead. Doing so would put the Celtics only a game away from the red-hot Raptors, who have won eight straight games and nine of their last 10 in their climb to the second seed in the East.
