Marcus Morris gave a half-hearted apology to the NBA after his late ejection during Sunday's win over the Toronto Raptors. Morris patted referee James Williams in the behind on his way out, as he received his second double technical for jawing with forward DeMar DeRozan.

“Sorry @NBA for smacking the ref ass after getting ejected. I see other refs took offense to it. My apologies,” Morris tweeted after the game.

Morris had initially received his first double technical for another verbal war with C.J. Miles earlier in the game.

The Philly native has been enjoying a two-week run of unreal shot-making for the injury-plagued Celtics.

Boston has also had something to prove against the first-placed Raptors, as second-year guard Jaylen Brown claimed it only feels right if they wound up first in the East.

“When I first got here people knew who I was,” Morris told reporters after the game, according to Tom Westerholm of MassLive. “So it's not different. I think they're just starting to love me more. I think they liked me, but now they're starting to love me, so I appreciate that.”

Morris has certainly gained the love of fans in Beantown as a blue-collar forward with plenty of grit and fight in him. His no-nonsense approach to the game and energy on the basketball court has made him into one of the fan favorites on this roster.

Though Williams didn't make much of it, the NBA has strict rules for players making contact with officials, and Morris could see a sanction for his actions soon this week.
