We don’t know what is causing Al Horford to react as though he’s about to get hit by a train whenever a ball clangs off the rim towards him, but that’s exactly what happened in Monday’s contest between the Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks.

This wasn’t the first time that Horford nearly soiled his pants at the sight of the round leather careening his way. Several blogs and media outlets have documented this ridiculous tendency of the Celtics big man, who scored 15 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out nine assists in a 110-107 win over the Hawks, but no one has managed to uncover the mysterious reason behind his apparent case of Sfairesphobia.

One thing is for sure, though: Al Horford is not afraid of banging bodies inside. He is averaging 14.6 points and 9.2 rebounds through the team’s first 11 games this season.

The Celtics take on the New York Knicks this Wednesday and you bet we’ll be out there waiting for the next time this weird occurrence takes place.
