Denver Nuggets guard Isaiah Thomas had his two best seasons in the NBA with the Boston Celtics. Then, he was traded away for Kyrie Irving. If you're a fan of the Celtics, it's easy to miss Thomas and all he accomplished with the team. However, it's hard to complain about the return for him in Irving.

That being said, the fans clearly still have a lot of love for Thomas, and the feeling is mutual. Thomas' new team, the Nuggets, plays the Celtics in Boston in just a few days on March 18. Thomas has tweeted out his excitement for returning to the city.

Thomas knows how to get the city of Boston on his side. It's not surprising, either. In 2015-16 he had his best season in the NBA to that point, averaging career-highs in points (22.2) and rebounds (3.0), while barely missing out on a career-best assist number with 6.2.

Then the next season, he topped it by barely dropping in rebounds and assists while scoring a ridiculous 28.9 points per game. He led the Celtics to the playoffs and of course had that heart wrenching moment when he lost his sister during the season.

He then went on to score 53 points on her birthday in the playoffs.

Everything Thomas did in Boston made the fans want to stand up and cheer.

Sadly, he hasn't recaptured that same magic since leaving. He's already fallen out of the Nuggets' rotation. Maybe this will be exactly what he needs to get his career back on track.
