Brooklyn Nets superstar small forward Kevin Durant and Degree Deodorant have donated $1 million to 10 organizations that will help teach kids how to use the power of sports to combat social issues.

Three of those organizations are New York-based. The Nets, of course, play in Brooklyn:

This is a great gesture by Kevin Durant, who continues to be a great role model for kids.

The tragic murder of George Floyd at the hands of policemen in Minnesota has caused nationwide protests. Nets star point guard Kyrie Irving is one of the main players who is not in favor of resuming the 2019-20 season at Walt Disney World since he believes the return of sports will take the attention off of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The Nets will be among the 22 teams partaking in the “bubble” games at Orlando, Florida. Brooklyn will be battling it out with the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards for the final two playoff spots in the East. The Nets are in seventh place.

Neither Durant nor Irving will be playing for the Nets at Disney World. KD is still recovering from his Achilles tear and Irving is rehabbing his right shoulder after getting surgery in March.

Durant, who is a two-time Finals MVP, has career averages of 27.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 849 games with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Golden State Warriors. The 2014 regular season MVP will make the Nets title contenders in 2020-21 when he suits up.
