Don't expect to see Kevin Durant play in a Brooklyn Nets jersey until next season.
When the 31-year-old superstar suffered an Achilles injury during Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals, many people — and rightfully so — counted Durant out for the 2019-20 campaign as he rehabs.
Well, with the NBA season being suspended on March 11 due to safety concerns over the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, a glimmer of hope entered the minds of Nets fans who were eager to have the former league MVP back on the court.
However, despite Durant progressing nicely in his rehab, ESPN NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski firmly stated that Durant will not return this season no matter if and when it resumes.

Durant made the move to leave the Golden State Warriors this past season to team up with star point guard Kyrie Irving with the Nets. Durant spent the last three seasons with the Warriors playing at a near-MVP level while helping lead the franchise to two championships.
“What about in a shortened season, and I know they’re thinking about this, You really want to hurt ratings next year? Let’s rush everybody back this season and let’s get key players injured and now have to hold them off, have their starts pushed back,” Wojnarowski added.
With Durant out for the season and Irving dealing with his fair share of injuries as well, the Nets have been a fringe playoff team in the Eastern Conference. Through 64 games, the team had compiled a 30-34 record which was good for seventh place in the East.
