Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving has devised a new nickname for him and his new superstar teammate Kevin Durant.

The Nets are banking on Irving and a healthy Durant to lead them into contention in the Eastern Conference, and Irving is hoping to deliver the goods like everyone's favorite convenience store:

“It's a new show. It's a new beginning in terms of building and moving forward with the pieces that we have here, and that includes 7-11,” Irving said, via Ethan Fuller of Basketball News. “So get to know us.”

The reference, of course, alludes to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant's actual jersey numbers.

Nets fans are wondering how Irving and Durant will work in tandem this season, though the world got a glimpse on Sunday night.

The two stars put on a display in a preseason game against the Washington Wizards, with Irving scoring 18 points in just 17 minutes and Durant showcasing some explosiveness in his first competitive outing in 18 months.

Durant is well accustomed to playing with another superstar at this stage of his career, and he has the kind of skill set that could benefit a ball-dominant point guard like Irving.

How the rest of the Nets pieces fit together will be another question.

The Nets have a talented pair of backcourt players in Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert. Young center Jarrett Allen continues to blossom, especially as an rim protector, and DeAndre Jordan provides leadership and steadiness on the interior. Joe Harris, meanwhile, can shoot the lights out.

But at the end of the day, Brooklyn's success will live and die by “7-11,” as coined by Kyrie.
