The Brooklyn Nets faced off against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night as the Hawks were aiming to remain undefeated following an impressive start to the season. However, despite the team putting up a whopping 141 points, they also gave up 145 points to Brooklyn.
After the game, Nets head coach Steve Nash had a pithy one-liner about his post-game plans:

Certainly, for coaches that surely want their teams to shore up their defensive efforts as the season goes on, giving up a combined 286 points is not a great way to start – and would be worthy of a brew or two.
Still, the chemistry between the Nets two superstars, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, was palpable in the 4th quarter of the game. Irving woke up after a quiet first three quarters to help propel the Nets to the team’s third win of the season.

The game was fairly close throughout, with both teams putting up preposterous scoring numbers. However, the decisive fourth quarter saw the Nets pile up a staggering 43 points against the Hawks hefty 37 themselves.
Irving notched a stunning 17 points in the frame in all manner of ways. He shot from the outside, he slithered his way into the line, he crossed over multiple defenders are rose up for bank shots around the basket – it was a clinic.
Despite two 30-10 games from the Hawks’ John Collins and Trae Young, the Nets were able to pull this one out and move to 3-2 on the season. The Hawks dropped to 3-1 after the loss.
But thanks to the COVID-19 induced scheduling quirks this season, these same two teams face off on Friday. Get ready to welcome the new year with some basketball fireworks.
