During this past offseason, the Chicago Bulls shifted the entire direction of the franchise to a rebuild centered around their young core group.

According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, the Bulls have decided to pick up the fourth-year option for the 2018-19 season on the rookie deal of guard Cameron Payne that is worth $3.2 million.

The 23-year-old is still recovering from a broken foot that he suffered back in September that required surgery that will likely keep him off the floor for a few months. Cameron Payne had been acquired by the Bulls from the Oklahoma City Thunder prior to the trade deadline last season where he averaged 4.8 points and 1.4 assists in 12.9 minutes per contest in 11 games played.

This could simply be the Bulls doing their due diligence on their player's contract since there were reports from a few month back that Payne had already failed to impress Chicago upon arrival.

However, things should get more complex after the return of both Kris Dunn and Zach LaVine from their respective injuries as well as the team will have a long jam for minutes.
