The L.A. Clippers lost yet another crucial member of their team in Monday's win against the Lakers, and head coach Doc Rivers said he knows why Clippers star Blake Griffin went down with a apparent knee injury after fighting for a loose ball late in the fourth quarter of L.A.'s 120-115 win.

There were four players in the mix of the play, including Griffin, Austin Rivers, Larry Nance Jr. and Lonzo Ball.

Rivers appeared to cast some blame on Ball for the injury, saying his diving for the loose ball caused a domino effect that led another player to fall into Griffin's left knee.

“Lonzo was just trying to make a play,” Doc Rivers said. “But I think Lonzo knocked somebody into Blake and bam, man. It was like a trigger effect.”

But while Ball was definitely in the mix on the play, it was Austin Rivers that fell into Griffin's knee. Ball and Griffin were diving in the direction of the ball, while Austin Rivers flew in from the left side to try and get it.

The play happened quickly, and it's possible that from Doc Rivers' angle, it appeared that Ball may have fallen into Austin Rivers, who then fell into Griffin. But different angles show that may not be the case.

In any event, the Clippers still suffered another injury, and only time will tell how serious it is for Griffin and, by extension, the team.
