The Dallas Mavericks are going to catch a ton of eyeballs this NBA season. With Cooper Flagg now in town, the roster is deep, paired alongside Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, D'Angelo Russell, Ryan Nembhard, Derrick Lively, and PJ Washington. This is going to be a very good team when fully healthy.
Head coach Jason Kidd recently revealed who will step up this season.
The current over-under win total odds for the Dallas Mavericks are around 40-42 wins, depending on the sportsbook.
On Bill Simmons' latest episode, he did not share which sportsbook he was referring to, but said that the Mavericks' over-under win total is at 41.5. This means that in order for the over to it, the Mavericks must end the regular season above .500. Simmons explains why it is doable.
“Their over-under is 41.5. Last year, they were 39-43, but they had the Luka trade halfway, you know, in January or whenever it was. And Davis played a game and got hurt. Completely messed up year. And they bring in DLO at least for the first half of the season. Kyrie hopefully comes in. I don't see any scenario, 41.5 means basically 42 and 40. It means they're going to have a winning season. I don't see any scenario where Dallas is .500 or under this season.”
“They're going to be too f—- good defensively. And the reason is because Cooper Flagg, who's an overcompetitive psycho who you would have known that if you watched at Duke or followed him in high school, anything, he's a maniac.”
Simmons then doubled down on his take about Flagg being a star right away.
“I think he’s going to be good right away. I think he’s going to be like genuinely noticeably impactful, and it’s going to be every game because of the way he’s wired.”
The NBA season is less than two weeks away. The Mavericks could very well end this regular season with a winning record.
